Mohamed El-Hassanein, president of the Association for the Preservation of Cultural Tourism, said that the aim of the association is to maximize the role of cultural tourism in Egypt and to restore its incoming traffic, pointing out that the cultural tourism product accounted for 18% of the total inflow of tourism to Egypt in 2010, Does not exceed 5% of the total number of tourists due to terrorist events and political tensions in the Middle East.
Al-Hassanein said in a press statement that the association obtained work permit No. 10534 as a registered NGO, announcing the completion of the formation of the committees and a general conception of the internal structure and the functions of the executive office next Thursday.
He added that the Association will work to identify the obstacles faced by the various cultural tourism sectors by the sectoral committees of the Association and to prepare a working paper on the challenges and proposals that can be implemented from the point of view of the Association and in line with the vision, strategy and objectives.
The Chairman of the Cultural Tourism Association said: "Meetings will be held for the members of the Association" sectoral committees "with the relevant ministries and government agencies to present the vision of the association in support of the tourism industry and contribute to presenting and solving the problems of members with different government agencies. He pointed out that the association includes 39 founding members and that the participation base will be expanded through the membership of the largest number of members according to the terms of membership commensurate with the status, value and image of the association at the internal and external levels. Al-Hassanin said that Mohammed Ayoub was elected as First Vice-President, Mohammad Montaser was elected as second deputy, and Ihab Abdel-Al was appointed as Secretary of the Society's Fund.
